HBO - Dear Ms.: A Revolution in Print
From HBO Documentary Films and premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, Dear Ms.: A Revolution in Print explores the groundbreaking legacy as well as the complicated history of Ms. magazine, the feminist publication that transformed how women were represented in media and culture over the past 50+ years. At a critical time for feminism and media, this film revisits a revolutionary voice in print that continues to resonate today.
Alongside our partner Kaleida Studios and director Salima Koroma, we developed a graphics package for episode 1 of the series that was inspired by the psychedelic-infused design language of the 1960s—a visual era defined by bold color palettes, layered textures, and experimental typography that captured the spirit of rebellion and cultural transformation. With full access to the Ms.magazine archives, we were able to ground our designs in the publication’s rich visual history, blending authentic elements with contemporary motion design to reflect both the era’s energy and the magazine’s enduring influence.
