About Mighty Oak:
Mighty Oak is a women and queer-owned animation studio based in Brooklyn, NY that specializes in stop motion, 2D, 3D, and mixed media. We have created award-winning work for networks like Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Adult Swim, TruTV, and Nick Jr. Our first original short film, Under Covers, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
In addition to TV and film projects, Mighty Oak’s commercial work has garnered over 5 billion views across digital platforms for clients such as Condé Nast, The New York Times, Coca-Cola, Samsung, GE, Etsy, Airbnb, and TED Talks — landing the studio on Fast Company’s list of Most Creative People in Business (two spots below Michelle Pfeiffer).
The Role:
Mighty Oak is looking for an experienced Associate Creative Director (ACD) who has expertise in motion graphics and 2D animation.

Please note that this is a temp position that may develop into a full-time role depending on the company’s needs.
Schedule:
This will be a temp position for the length of 3-6 months, beginning in mid-September of 2022. Position is remote. While not required, ACD will have the option to come into our Brooklyn studio to work. Communication with teams will take place via virtual platforms.
Hours are 9:30am-6pm EST, Monday through Friday with a one-hour lunch break as well as any other legally-mandated breaks.
Key overarching responsibilities include:
Working with the Executive Creative Director (ECD) to align the company approach and client vision across projects
Design creative briefs and strategies for a variety of projects
Present and discuss creative with clients
Learn the depth of client challenges and methodology to ensure our creative approach strategically responds
Work with Head of Production to keep projects moving
Work with team members to make sure all projects meet client objectives and budgetary guidelines
Keep team members briefed on the creative process on projects; drive collaboration; ensure productivity
Analyze and cross-check information to ensure all deliverables are complete, accurate, and fulfill the scope
Communicate effectively and professionally, internally and externally; fostering a positive team atmosphere
Work across a variety of project timelines
Qualifications:
Design:
Dynamic, in-depth knowledge of design principles and practices across:
Creating style frames and decks in a variety of looks
Type
Color
Motion design
Mixed-media animation, including use of collage and archival materials
2D animation
Character animation is a plus
Direction:
Experience and confidence in leading creative teams in a wide range of visual styles
Experience establishing the look and feel of multiple types of projects: including those between 5 seconds to 15 minutes,
Experience guiding teams from start to finish on projects while maintaining visual consistency
Experience in art direction or creative direction for long form work such as a series or feature, is a plus.
Technical Knowledge/Experience in:
Expert level: Adobe After Effects
Expert level: Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Animate a plus
Google Docs (including Google Sheets)
Familiarity working with stop-motion animation is a plus
